the vision behind

LIVING ON THE MAP

In today's fast paced culture, we rarely have the time to slow down long enough to soak in our surroundings, relish the beauty of nature or mindfully taste the food we consume. But is life really all about checking the next item off the list?

When this project was still just a spark of thought, we decided to follow a hunch. We quit our jobs to move into our self-converted camper van and went traveling on the back roads of Europe and North Africa. We wanted to see and learn from others how to get back to more wholesome lives.

What we found out is that our mental and physical health go hand in hand with our planet's.

Sustainability is the perfect mantra for a happy, full, purposeful life and a thriving, vibrant planet.

... And for us it is tightly linked with slowing down, respecting our bodies, taking the time to breathe and be more conscious with our time.

Because our culture worships over activity and defines success by the rush you are in, the responsibility you shoulder and the type of items you are able to purchase, there isn't much room for slowing down... And yet our heart, body and earth all crave it.

More meaning, more calm, more creativity.

JOAQUIN

Joaquin is Mexican. He was born in Queretaro, and moved to Ireland after quitting his comfy accountant job. He started working in an amazing organic, low-waste cafe in Dublin where he met a little french baker (yup, that's me).

He's always dreamed of traveling the world, and found a way to do it in the gentlest, most caring way - he built us a camper-van.

Joaquin is calm, patient, observant - in many ways so very different than me. He is the roots I never thought I could need.  Always ready for an adventure, he is a big part of life behind the scenes of Living on the map.

LOUISE

I grew up close to Paris, and never really found my place in France. When I moved to Ireland, I was at war with my body and completely lost with what I wanted to do.

I had the privilege of working in a cafe with people who took me in, showed me the wonders of cooking with fresh, local products and taught me to discover a world I didn't know existed within myself.

I became a yoga teacher, started expressing myself through photography and writing, and learned was missing : self love, compassion and patience for others, respect for everything that surrounds us.

Today, I am a vegan and zero waster, I practice yoga and meditation and my life is simply full of love to the rim.
