30 self-care ideas
SELF CARE IS ABOUT SEEING THE BODY, MIND AND SOUL WORKING TOGETHER
I don’t know about you guys, but I use to only take care of myself when something was wrong either mentally or physically. I would wait until the breaking point and almost rejoice in picking myself back up.
We tend to prioritize everything in our lives over our personal well being, not seeing how treating ourselves to a lavish lunch or taking a fifteen minute walk outside can do for our productivity.
I’ve since then discovered practices such as yoga and meditation that have brought me the desire to care for myself everyday. Self-care is a lifestyle, a constant choice to take the best decisions for yourself because of love. We don’t just have to do things for ourselves, we get to do them.
Because we live in a world that worships over-activity, the words slowing down scare most of us. As if they were counter productive with success. But what is success ?
If our bodies get tired and sick, if our minds feel blue and we loose momentum, if our purpose becomes clouded and we forget what drives us, are we still successful ?
What if we redefined the meaning of success, stopped being so hard on ourselves and learned to see beauty in the progress, not simply the achieved goal. If we saw our small victories and celebrated them and treated ourselves to some much deserved down-time, the journey would be much more enjoyable !
