Organizing our days can be a challenging task, but with these productivity tricks, it will feel like a piece of cake.

Our days are filled to the rim of tasks to accomplish on personal and professional levels. This article is not designed to help cram even more into our daily life, but to give tools to manage our time better.

Wether you work from home, are balancing a business career on top of a busy home life or are a student trying to organize your time better, we can all benefit from a little easier life.

HERE YOU WILL FIND IDEAS AND TIPS ON MANAGING YOUR TIME AND ENERGY BETTER TO BUILD YOUR PRODUCTIVITY.

1. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF FIRST - you can't win a battle if you are depleted

It's incredibly hard to be productive non stop, especially if we just wake up with a stressful list of things to do and rush into the day. By taking care of ourselves first, we make sure to start he day with a peaceful mind and an energized body.

You can start by making yourself a wholesome breakfast, taking a short walk outside, do some light stretching or snuggle with a pet or loved one.. whatever floats your boat !

But make sure you do what you feel like doing. If you get a bit of that personal time first thing, you'll be more inclined to give yourself one hundred percent for the rest of the day.

2. DO MORE WITH MUNDANE TASKS - and in less time

Although we are all for taking the time to do one task in full consciousness instead of multi tasking all the time, when it comes to repetitive chores, we love to sugar coat them a little bit. By listening to a podcast when cleaning the house or an audio-book while exercising, you get to do more in less time.

3. CREATE PRODUCTIVE ENVIRONMENTS - by clearing away the distractions

For myself, because I got use to my "office" changing with the cities we visited, I got very good at being productive in all sorts of different spaces. From laundromats to car dealerships, but mostly from cafes. I realized that wherever I was, all I needed to be ready and focused was follow my "getting to work" routine.

I start by organizing and cleaning my work space, whatever it might be, then set some soft music in my ears and get a drink of some sort by my side, often sparkling water or tea. When all three are done, I'm ready to work. It is like a ritual to get me in the mind space for work.

Find what you need in your environment to be focused and make it your productive work ritual

4. ORGANIZE BY URGENCY AND IMPORTANCE - and stick to it...

Efficiency does not mean cramming as much as you can into your day. A lot of the time, our to-do lists are filled with random things that, although they do need to get done, might not all be as urgent.

For example, if you have a big meeting coming up in two days, it should take priority over returning a book to the library. They are both pressing, because you have to get them done in the next few days, but don't have the same urgency to them.

Try organizing your to-do lists according to urgency and importance. This way you'll get everything done and in the right order.

5. MIND YOUR ENERGY LEVELS - you can't be at 100% all day long

Try to schedule the most energy demanding tasks in the morning, when you are still fresh from the night and excited for the day, and the less demanding tasks in the evening or end of afternoon, when it's time to unwind.

For example, I try to schedule meetings or time to write articles in the morning, because they take the most energy out of me. In the afternoon, I'll answer e-mails, edit pictures and proof the articles I wrote in the morning.

6. TAKE BREAKS - and get a fresh eye by taking a step back

It is oh so important to take breaks. If things don't come to you right away, and you feel like you are forcing them to happen and losing your time, you need a break. Come back to it after a short walk, some stretching or having a bite to eat and you are sure to see the problem with fresh eyes and a peaceful mind.

7. SEE YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS - not just what you didn't do

We tend to focus on the items we haven"t crossed off our lists, instead of celebrating the ones we did. Make sure to write an accomplishment list and see the hard work you put into them for what it is. It will help motivate you to continue crossing the next items off.

And if for some reason, you haven't been able to get done what you wanted for the day, make sure to see why and celebrate that too. If you chose to spend some time with your kids, had to deal with a work crisis or needed a break and took the afternoon off, see it as time well spent and return to your tasks tomorrow. We can only do so much..

8. FIND OUT WHY YOU WANT TO BE PRODUCTIVE

Instead of seeing the task itself, try to see the aim, the goal. I'm spending hours doing online tests because I want to learn how to drive. With this in mind, the annoying task becomes a way to get to my goal. (I really am learning how to drive.. Again ! It's the fourth time but who's counting ?)

9. DELEGATE - things do need to get done, who does them is not important

There are things we are great at, and then things we are not so good at, or simply hate to do. In the house, I know Joaquin loves to do the dishes and I personally love to cook. This works great, I make a mess, and he cleans it up ! Hehe not everything can work as well as this, but by figuring out what we do well and efficiently and what others do well and efficiently, we do more as a team.

In a society filled with super people who can do it all, it can feel like a defeat to ask for help, to take a break, or just not do it all. A great way to stop that wheel is to recognize how far we have come and to enjoy the journey just as much as the goal.

WE ARE BIG FANS OF HARD WOR AND SLOW LVING COHABITING IN OUR LIVES. BEING PRODUCTIVE TO US IS FINDING THE TIME AND MANNER TO ORGANIZE OUR LIVES, TO BE ABLE TO ENJOY IT ALL !
