Wonderful Golden Milk Latte
ANTI-OXYDENT, ANTI-INFLAMMATORY, FULL OF NUTRIENTS & DELICIOUS !
This traditional Indian drink is nourishing and powerful in it’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds. It is easy to whip up, mainly made out of plant-based milk and ground turmeric, and has a fantastic nutritional profile.
Our recipe is inspired by the ancient Ayurveda science, keeping all of the desired properties, with a touch more sweetness. Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest holistic sciences; it was developed more than 3,000 years ago in India, is still used today in many parts of the world and making a strong come back in our western societies.
This science sees the body as working hand in hand with the mind and soul, and treats all three together. The holistic approach is to prevent disease from happening by keeping the body, mind and spirit happy and healthy. Golden milk is the perfect example of Ayurveda magic, as it has a number of benefits to back it’s wonderfully creamy taste, and it's warmth has a comforting effect on the mind.
The main ingredient in golden milk is turmeric, which gives it it’s color and incredible healing properties. Curcumin, turmeric’s main compound, is used to reduce joint pain, inflammation, arthritis and even treat depression. For the body to absorb it’s benefits better, the drink is made with a small amount of natural fat as well as a pinch of black pepper. I like to use organic coconut oil, but almond oil or avocado oil work as well.

HOW TO MAKE GOLDEN MILK LATTE
It only requires 8 ingredients, one pot and no more than five minutes to make this tea. We’ve been drinking golden milk for a little while now, and although we often tweak it, it has became a daily obsession.
If, like us, you feel like adding more flavors and health benefits to your drink, you can throw in a pinch of ground cardamom, fresh or ground ginger, a bit of ground cinnamon or some vanilla extract.
FOR TWO CUPS :
1 cup of organic oat or coconut milk
1/2 teaspoon of ground turmeric
1 big pinch of freshly ground black pepper
1 small piece of grated and peeled ginger root or a big pinch of ground ginger
1 big pinch of ground cardamom
1/4 teaspoon raw honey or maple syrup to add off the heat (optional)
Pour all of the ingredients (except for the sweetener) in a small pot and put it on medium heat. Mix thoroughly until the powders are fully absorbed into the milk, and remove from the heat before it boils. Pour the golden milk in two mugs and add sweetener to your taste.

We like to have this drink in the long winter afternoons as a pick me up, or mid morning during the summer. Although it is made to be enjoyed as a warm beverage, we love to drink it cold in the summer months, for a more refreshing version.
As Ayurveda treats more than just the body, try to see this drink as a peaceful break for your mind and soul as well. Spare five minutes for the making of your tea where you delve into your senses, fully committing to the preparation and letting go of all worries and troubles.
