How to rock at mornings

picture tea.jpg

I'VE ALWAYS DREAMED OF BECOMING A MORNING PERSON, AND NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD ENJOY GETTING UP SO EARLY !

Once you get up earlier, you realize that the world is a bit slower in the morning. It’s like a car engine, just beginning to warm up — slow, but deliberate, and powerful. And like a car engine, once it gets going, there's nothing other than you that can stop it. You are in the driver seat of your day, in control, deciding where to take it.

And because everything is slow and soft with sleep, it's easy to jump in. If we wait too long to start our day, it might feel as hard as jumping in a moving vehicle, everything rushed and out of focus.

Mornings are the power source you didn't know you had.

HERE YOU WILL FIND TIPS AND IDEAS ON HOW TO REVOLUTIONIZE YOUR MORNINGS.

LISTEN TO YOUR BODY FIRST

Start by drinking a tall glass a warm water to re-hydrate after the night. We like to drink warm and not cold, as it helps the digestive system to gently wake up and is easier to assimilate. It's also a lot nicer than icy water straight off the bed !

Make sure to keep drinking plenty of water or herbal tea for the rest of the day.

Invite some light movement in to wake up your muscles, maybe a walk outside or some stretching.

Make sure you treat yourself to a real breakfast. Taking the time to make a meal in the morning is a great way to define the rest of your day. Incorporate plenty of whole grains, fruits, nuts and seeds, plant based milks or yoghurts to keep you full and energized throughout the morning.

NO MORE SNOOZING

First things first, if you actually give yourself the luxury of time in the morning, it will turn your whole day around. Running to the door, a sad muffin, in hand is not exactly the grand start we are looking for. By leaving the phone or alarm clock out of the room, you allow yourself to get the fresh start you deserve.

Get up to turn the alarm off, and take your time to wake up, stretch, give yourself a little massage, and get ready for the rest of your morning routine.

TUNE IN TO HOW YOU'RE FEELING

Everyday is different for both our body and mind. By taking a second to write down or share with others how you feel both mentally and physically, you gain control over it.

Tune in and write down how you slept, if you have any aches and pains, how much energy you have, if you have any doubts and fears for the day ahead, or if instead, you are feeling excited and confident. Keeping up with yourself is a wonderful way to use your body and mind as an ally.

If we feel low and recognize it, we might treat ourselves with more kindness and look after our mental health a little more. If instead we are full of energy, we might plan something more challenging for the day and make sure we stay energized. Knowledge is key, and your body is the first tool to get there !

WRITE IT DOWN

Writing a precise and list of things you want to achieve during the day truly helps make sure they happen. But don't get too excited with the list and keep it realistic !

Make sure you write down specific steps to take towards bigger goals. For example, if you are writing a book, don't simply write "book" on your list. Make it more precise, "imagine new character" or "proof first chapter". This makes it easier for your mind to process, and it feels much more rewarding to see that you have accomplished your goals for the day.

Making sure to take care of our physical and mental health in the morning insures we stay healthy and productive for the rest of the day. It means you are hitting the floor running, feeling empowered and rested, ready to take on the day.

Let us know what you do in the morning to prepare yourself for the day ahead ! xx
