NATURAL HEALTH WORKS AS WELL FOR PREVENTION AS IT DOES FOR TREATMENT

As days get shorter, our bodies (and spirits..) need the extra help to stay strong. These recipes and home made remedies are exactly what we need to not let the cold grey weather bring us down !

For the last few years, I've developed a real relationship with my body  and health and I like to take an active and role in my wellbeing. One way for me to do that, is not to wait to get sick to give my body the help it needs !

At the first signs of fatigue or stress or simply when the cold weather rocks in, I like to prep some of these natural remedies and start taking them in the form of teas or add them to meals, to make sure my immune system is strong and capable to kick any intruder out. So don't wait to get sick, make sure to get plenty of sleep and eat nourishing food, listen to your body and help it sail smoothly through winter with these super easy remedies !

WE USE THESE NATURAL REMEDIES WHENEVER THE COLD DAYS ARRIVE, TO GIVE OUR IMMUNE SYSTEM A FIGHTING CHANCE !

LEMON & GINGER TEA WITH A TWIST

Our first recipe is sweet and simple, packed with anti-oxydent and anti-inflammatory properties and is wonderful to boost the immune system.

We like to make big batches of this tea and keep it in a thermos to drink all day long. You can add some plant-based milk or more honey for the taste if you'd like !

To make : Juice half a lemon, grate 2cm of ginger and add 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder to a thermos. Add a teaspoon of raw honey and fill with hot water to the top. Let it sit for five minutes and enjoy !

HONEY INFUSED GARLIC -

Raw honey and garlic have been used for hundreds of years to treat colds and flu symptoms. Their anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties won't only ease your soar throat and cure your sniffles but will help boost your system to avoid hearing from those two again.

They pair perfectly for taste too, as honey will take away some of the garlic's strong taste.

To make : Peel one head of garlic and with the flat side of the knife press on each clove to release the juices (it sounds gross but is oh so worth it).

Place your cloves in a small jar, cover it with raw honey and keep it in a dark place. Open the jar every other day to release the excess gaz that comes with fermentation, and after five days, store in the fridge.

Whenever you feel flu symptoms coming up, eat a clove of garlic or a teaspoon of honey (or both) ! You can take one a day until your symptoms pass. As the combo is good for much more than your immune system, you don't risk anything by taking too much. Your heart and cholesterol levels will actually thank you..

We like to make a big batch of this comes cold season as it keeps for months !

MAGICAL COUGH SYRUP -

This last one is a life savior for all of you coughers out there. Each of the ingredients in this natural syrup has a wonderful purpose to help you get back on your feet.

Apple cider vinegar helps balance the ph levels in the body, ginger is the best ally to help reduce inflammation in the lungs and throat, cayenne pepper heats up the chest to get rid of excess fluids and eases the pain sensors sent to the brain, lemon juice's vitamines and anti-bacterial properties do wonders on sore throats..

You get the picture !

To make : Add 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper powder, 1/2 teaspoon of ginger powder, the juice of half a lemon, 2 tablespoons of raw honey, 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to a bowl. Add 1 cup of water and stir until all the ingredients are combined.
Pour into a tall jar for easy use.

You can drink this in shots, directly in the back of the throat, two to five times a day. The taste is not of the most pleasant, so you can wash it down with a glass of water.

As it is quite acidic, we advice to start with a shot twice a day and see how your stomach handles it ! Apple cider vinegar actually helped greatly with my acid reflux, so you are in good hands. We absolutely love this easy syrup, it is a fantastic ally against bad coughs and congested chests.

Winter is a wonderful reminder to take care of yourself. Listen to your body, sleep a lot, stay warm, exercise gently and eat nutritious delicious food.

Hoping you love those natural remedies as much as we do and don't hesitate to message us if you have any questions ! xx
